The Mosque / Masjid is a sanctuary dedicated to the worship of God, spiritual reflection, and community learning. To maintain a peaceful, clean, and respectful environment for all who enter 34 Windmill Road, we kindly request all regular congregation members and esteemed visitors to adhere to the following guidelines.
The Masjid is a house of prayer, and modest dress code is required for both men and women out of respect for the sacred space:
Clothing should be loose-fitting and non-transparent.
For Men: Shirts and trousers should cover from the shoulders down to past the knees. Avoid shirts with large, distracting graphic prints or slogans.
For Women: Loose, modest clothing that covers the arms and legs. A headscarf (hijab) is traditionally worn inside the prayer halls.
To maintain absolute cleanliness in the halls where our community places their faces on the carpet in prayer, shoes must be removed immediately upon entering the building. Please place your shoes neatly on the designated shoe racks provided at the entrance. Do not leave shoes blocking the walkways or fire exits.
All mobile phones, smartwatches, and electronic devices must be fully silenced or turned off prior to entering the prayer halls.
If you must take an urgent phone call, please step out completely into the foyer or entrance lobby so as not to disturb the worship or concentration of others.
Sacred Silence: Please lower your voice when moving through the facility. The main halls are spaces where individuals are engaged in silent prayer, Quranic reading, or remembrance of God.
Walking Etiquette: Never walk directly in front of someone who is actively praying. If you need to cross the room, pass well ahead of them or wait until they finish their prayer.
Supervising Children: Children are a welcome blessing at our Masjid! However, parents are kindly asked to keep their young children close to them at all times to ensure their safety and to prevent running or shouting during congregational prayers.
Cleanliness: Littering is strictly forbidden. Please use the bins provided. Ensure the Wudu (ablution) spaces are left clean and as dry as possible after use.
"The Masajid are built only for the remembrance of Allah..."
Let our actions, manners, and speech inside and outside the facility reflect the noble character and peace taught by Islam, showing the utmost neighborly respect to the residents of Windmill Road.
To maintain cleanliness, safety, and smooth traffic flow at 34 Windmill Road, the Islamic Foundation Drogheda asks our community to cooperate with our ablution guidelines based on where you are traveling from:
We are proud to serve as a spiritual sanctuary for the many doctors, nurses, medical staff from Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, and employees of nearby Drogheda businesses.
Full Access: If you are coming directly from a hospital shift or your workplace, our on-site separate Wudu facilities are fully available and open for you to prepare for your prayers.
Efficiency: We know your break times are strictly limited; our facilities are designed to help you make Wudu quickly so you can pray and return to your vital work serving the public.
If you are traveling to the Masjid directly from your residential home (especially for high-capacity gatherings like Friday Jumu'ah or Ramadan Taraweeh), we kindly request that you perform your Wudu at home before you leave.
Why this helps: Leaving your home with Wudu dramatically reduces overcrowding in our bathroom areas right before the congregation (Iqamah) begins, keeps the floors dry and safe from slipping hazards, and leaves the facility clear for the medical staff rushing over on short breaks.
For those who are able to make Wudu at home, remember the immense blessing promised by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him):
"Whoever purifies himself (makes Wudu) in his house, then walks to one of the houses of Allah to perform an obligation... his steps—one of them erases a sin and the other raises his status." — Sahih Muslim
