The Islamic Foundation Drogheda Madrasah (School) is an educational initiative being developed to support the Islamic learning needs of our growing community in Drogheda and the surrounding areas.
Our vision is to provide a welcoming, structured and accessible environment where children, young people and adults can develop their knowledge of Islam, strengthen their relationship with the Qur’an and build a firm foundation in their faith.
At the heart of the Madrasah will be the Qur’an. We aim to offer learning opportunities for different ages and levels — from complete beginners taking their first steps in recognising Arabic letters, through to students wishing to improve their Qur’an reading, pronunciation, Tajweed and memorisation.
Alongside Qur’an learning, the Madrasah aims to support a broader understanding of Islam. As the programme develops, this may include areas such as Islamic Studies, essential beliefs and worship, Islamic manners and character, the life of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, duas and practical knowledge for everyday Muslim life.
We recognise that Islamic education does not end in childhood. The needs of a young child beginning to learn the Qur’an are different from those of a teenager seeking a stronger connection with their faith or an adult who may never have had the opportunity to learn to read the Qur’an confidently.
For this reason, our aim is to develop learning opportunities for:
Children — building strong foundations in Qur’an reading, memorisation, Islamic knowledge and good character.
Youth — strengthening Qur’an recitation and Islamic understanding while helping young Muslims develop confidence in their faith and identity.
Adults — providing opportunities for brothers and sisters at different levels, including complete beginners, to learn and improve their Qur’an reading, Tajweed and Islamic knowledge.
The IFD Madrasah is currently in the planning and development stage. Before establishing regular classes, we want to understand the educational needs of our community.
We are therefore inviting individuals and families to register their interest in Qur’an and Islamic Studies classes. The information gathered will help us determine demand, age groups, learning levels and suitable class arrangements.
Submitting an expression of interest is not a confirmed enrolment or commitment to attend. Classes and schedules will be developed based on community interest, teacher availability and the resources available to IFD.
Whether you are looking for Qur’an education for your child, opportunities for a teenager to continue learning, or you would personally like to begin or improve your own Qur’an journey, we would like to hear from you.
Together, we hope to develop a Madrasah that serves our community today and helps nurture knowledgeable, confident and connected Muslims for the future.
